A passport that is valid through January 2009 is required of all participants. Students carrying U.S. passports do not need visas to enter either Argentina or Uruguay, but simply claim “tourist” status upon arrival.
Carriers of non-U.S. passports must check with the consulates of both Argentina and Uruguay for any visa requirements. These participants must be certain that any Argentine travel visa will allow entry into Argentina corresponding to the program travel date and a second entry corresponding to the return to Buenos Aires from Uruguay, and that the length of stay permitted covers the program end date. Any Uruguayan travel visa must allow for one entry and exit corresponding to the dates the group visits Uruguay. Obtaining any required documentation is the responsibility of the student.
Current document requirements for non-U.S. citizens can be located at:
Argentina: http://www.congenargentinany.com
Uruguay: http://www.conuruyork.org
Since information on the web pages may not reflect recent changes, carriers of non-U.S. passports are strongly advised to verify the visa requirements for both Uruguay and Argentina by calling or visiting personally those consulates in the United States.
