INDIA: DOCUMENTARY PRODUCTION AND CULTURAL STUDIES

(Film 3202, TVRA 4849, TVRA 7749x) will provide CUNY students with a rewarding, life transforming experience that complements any academic program.   Students from all disciplines are welcome to apply.  This 21 day course provides students with a meaningful combination of lectures, field trips, production work and sightseeing.   Students will learrn about north and south Indian cultures, religions, history and cinemas, with excursions to major cultural, historical and religious sights.

Spiritual, diverse and home to some 1.2 billion people, the cultural vibrancy and sheer scale of India today make it one of the most richly rewarding regions of the world to visit. The wealth of its cultures, the open friendliness of the Indian people, and the wide range of beautiful landscapes make India one of the most rewarding countries to explore.

In Hyderabad, the gateway between north and south India, CUNY students will collaborate with media production students at Ramoji Film City/Mahendra Ecole Centrale – described in the Guiness Book of World Records as the “largest studio complex in the world”.    Together, as part of multi-cultural crews students will collaborate on short documentaries.

Combining a rigorous and multi-faceted curriculum with genuine intercultural experiences,  India: Documentary Production and Cultural Studies enables students  to earn credit towards their major/minor while exploring the largest democracy on earth.
